The last politician who made this kind of public statement about a famous star was Dan Quayle... Maybe Huchabee could use a better "role model" himself?

In a truly silly turn of events, a politician is questioning somebody else’s ethics! I speak of the Republican idiot who took it upon himself to call Natalie Portman a bad role model. Let’s see, she is in a long term commited relationship and engaged to be married to the father of the child she is expecting. She is employed. She has never had any issues of substance abuse or addiction to anything. She is well respected among her peers…

To be fair, let’s look at someone who Huckabee did NOT remark on. Charlie Sheen has been prancing about like a lunatic for the last month showing his ass. He has been caught numerous times and even admitted to hiring hookers and strippers. His drug addictions and chemically altered binges are truly legendary. He exposed his twin sons to an environment filled with hookers and drugs. Sheen is even being accused of threatening to decapitate his estranged wife!

Does his silence mean that Huckabee thinks Sheen is a better role model than Portman?!?!? That would sound like the ethical point of view of a politician. They are just not known for being so open about it. Then again, a conservative Republican might have singled Portman out for other criteria that separate her from Sheen…

Now, he takes some of it back… He even says he does not “criticize the hardworking single mothers in our country.” Then, maybe he should tell us exactly why he thinks Ms. Portman is a worse example than Mr. Sheen.

The reality is, she is showing the young women out there, who may not choose to marry before having a child, that there is a right way to do it. Be employed. Be a good and healthy person. Do not jump into it before you know you can provide a good home for your child.

The last politician who made this kind of public statement about a famous star was Dan Quayle… Maybe Huchabee could use a better “role model” himself?

How is it possible that a republican is against the costitution? A certain Paul Broun has found himself directly opposed to a fundamental part of our most basic precepts as a society. He wants 2010 to be “The Year of the Bible”… What bible would that be? Our Jewish friends would say the Hebrew bible works for them… I’ve met those who perfer the Satanic Bible. The Quran is technically a bible. Maybe the UNIX Systems Administrator’s Bible? I have two of the latter. Our Mormon buddies have one of their own as well…

My point is this, he is ramming his personal ideals down the throats of people who have a right to their own opinions. As soon as we give him that power, we give it to others. What if the next guy comes up with “2013, Year of the KKK”? They played a key role in forming our identity as a nation too. Maybe 2014 can be the year of the Nazi? He is induging in an abuse of power and perverting the trust placed in him by the public if he subverts our constitution by blatantly ignoring a core element of who we are as a nation.

A particular faith can not be endorsed by our government without harming the very ideals that we all aspire to. I know that Rep. Paul Broun means well. He thinks that by doing this, he is sharing a special thing with people who are unaware of a great truth. He has good intentions… I think we all know the destination of the road he is paving…
